Birmingham Assay Office Feature

Quote form the Birmingham Assay Office Spring 2009 Anchor News Letter: "Jack Row, a Degree Student at the School is focussing on becoming a CAD designer and is inspired by the technicality and problem solving of a piece. He has chosen to design and create a pen in Palladium targeted at the high end corporate gift range."
Concept drawing posted is for a writing instrument primarly constructed in palladium and is being produced in cooperation with the Birmingham Assay Office, silversmith Andrew Macgowan and RP and casting services company Weston Beamor.

Helen Hulston Exhibiton

Quote fromStyle Birmingham news article: "Students from the new BA Jewellery and Silversmithing, (Design for Industry) course will have their work on show at Helen Hulston's shop in the Great Western Arcade."

My recently designed, developed and produced kinetic cocktail ring, "Entorqueo Two", will be one of the 13 items on display from Monday March 30th for four weeks.

Produced from a combination of 18ct white and yellow golds with channel set diamonds, the design was inspired chiefly by the 'Gherkin' building in London's Canary Wharf district.

The technical aspects of the design concentrate on the use of CAD and RP technology to produce accurate, geometric forms that are suitable for the casting process. Furthermore, the utilisation of laser welding technology enables kinetic movement and therefore an element of wearer interaction.

The design was produced with the assistance of the Weston Beamor/Domino Jewellery group who have once again, sponsored metal and services costs and supplied expert consultation throughout the design process. Many thanks are once again due.

The piece was also on display on the Weston Beamor Stand at the NEC during the Spring Fair 2009 trade show.
